Switzerland has claimed the number one spot in the search for the top 10 safest countries to travel to in 2020!

A recent data collection by travel insurance comparison website Insurly revealed the most traveller-safe countries in the world. Looking at the frequency of natural disasters, the quality of healthcare facilities as well as levels of violent crime and terrorist threats, these are the top 10 countries offering the safest travel experience in the world this year:

1.Switzerland with an overall score of 93.4 out of 100.

Switzerland is the birthplace of some of the worlds most famous inventions! It is a beautiful mountainous country in central Europe, home to numerous lakes, picturesque villages like the world-famous Matterhorn and the high peaks of the Alps.

2. Singapore with an overall score of 92.7 out of 100

The beautiful island city-state off southern Malaysia, is a global financial centre with a tropical climate and vibrant multicultural population. The Marina Bay Sands hotel is arguably the countries most famous attraction, offering a roof-top infinity pool and incredible views across the city.

3. Norway with an overall score of 91.1 out of 100

4. Luxembourg

The least safe countries according to the study, are:

178. South Sudan with an overall score of 14.8

179. Democratic Republic of Congo with an overall score of 15.4

180. Central African Republic  with an overall score of 21
